With the summer season in full swing and the heat and humidity taking its toll, SIPOA is here, once again, to rescue and offer some respite with its annual social, this time to be held at the (air conditioned) Woman’s Club on August 11, at 2:00 pm. This is going to be a free family event, sponsored by SIPOA, where children and adults can enjoy socializing, along with food, beverages, kid’s games, face painting, and even some surprises. Last year’s event was a great success, even though held completely outdoors; but because of the heat, we felt it better this year to have it both inside and outside. And, so the Woman’s Club is the ideal venue.
We are trying to get the word out early this summer to entice you and to try to get as many families as possible to attend and RSVP so we have a good turnout and can make sure we accommodate all who come to join in the fun.
Your SIPOA Board is, and has been committed to sponsoring free events throughout the year to bring our membership and residents together to engage, make new friends, and reconnect with old friends the old fashioned way; that is: in person, face to face, for a smile, a laugh, a hug or kiss, rather than a digital text or email. We all need a break from technology sometimes, and the warmth of an in- person interaction should never be lost to a computer or cell phone. And while there is certainly a need for all that, we still shouldn’t take physical interaction for granted. We, as well as our children, are entitled to play-dates every now and then and your Board hopes that sponsoring these events throughout the year will help to keep things real.
The one caveat is that we need your help, simply meaning: we want you all to attend and enjoy the food, fun, and fanfare. The more, the merrier! All we ask is that you come and share time with your friends and neighbors, perhaps even come and make some new friends. Many new families have moved here in the last few years. They are beginning to see what SIPOA is trying to do for our community and look forward to these events; however, we also want our long-term residents to become reinvigorated and join us as well. SIPOA is here for all of us!
