Snell Isle Lift Station Repairs Community Meeting set to discuss plans

St. Petersburg, Fla. (October 4, 2018)
Infrastructure improvement work on the City’s Lift Station No. 11 -- located at intersection of Snell Isle Boulevard NE and Barrett Boulevard NE -- is slated to begin within the next few months (right after the holiday season) and should be completed within 8 months.

All work will be performed at the lift station -- which is an integral part of the municipal sanitary sewer system transferring waste to the City’s three Water Reclamation Facilities. The gravity flow sewage is pumped into a sewer force main in the lift station. The force main (under pressure) transports sewage directly to the wastewater treatment plant or through other lift stations to the plant. This station will be rehabilitated with a replacement of pumps, underground piping, valves and electrical controls as they are near the end of their service life.

The proposed plans for this project will be available for review during an informational open house on October 30, 2018, from 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm at the Sunset Ballroom of the Vinoy Golf Club located at 600 Snell Isle Blvd NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33704. City staff will be available to receive comments and to answer questions.

The City will work with the contractor to maintain service and minimize the potential for traffic disruptions and unnecessary inconveniences during the construction phase of this project. However, due to the location of new and existing underground utilities, it will be necessary to temporarily detour traffic for limited periods of time.

The contractor will be required to maintain access to residences affected by the construction activities. We thank neighbors and drivers in advance for their continued cooperation and assistance during the construction of this important project.

Please mark your calendars for this important meeting.
