Holiday Shopping Safety Once the turkey is gone, many will start their holiday shopping this week-end, be assured St. Petersburg Police will be working to keep shoppers safe.
Starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday, officers (uniformed and undercover) will spend more time patrolling all of the busy shopping areas in the city, including the Crossroads/Tyrone area. Shoppers can expect to see high visibility patrols in our shopping center parking lots.
Thursday and Black Friday 6 p.m.-1 a.m., Mounted Patrol (horses) will patrol the Tyrone Mall parking lot.
Our marked Armored Surveillance Vehicle will be parked at one of the main entrances at Tyrone Mall for most of the week-end. It has cameras that record surrounding activity.
We encourage shoppers to lock their cars, take their keys, and lock-up any packages in the trunk. Don’t leave anything of value in plain sight. Park in well lighted areas and walk with a buddy after dark, or leave as other shoppers exit, for added safety.
