Snell Isle Fountain area hit by vandals

We heard today from SPPD that Snell Isle’s property crime report for the month of March was near perfect. There were no residential or vehicle burglaries for the entire month! GREAT GOING to everyone who is LOCKING UP and moving valuables out of sight. Thanks too to all our wonderful Block Captains for keeping everyone in the loop regarding crime. However, I do have sad news to report to you this evening…

The recently beautified Snell Isle Fountain area was hit by vandals who maliciously sprayed a chemical that killed 2 wide swaths of grass abutting Brightwaters Blvd (adjacent the stop sign) and the spray carried into one of the planted beds causing the beautiful purple Lantana and some of the gorgeous silver Dusty Miller to shrivel up. This was very painful to observe as so much time and energy has gone into our beautification projects and when one person or persons can do this harm, it causes serious angst!

Please, if anyone saw anyone or anything suspicious - at any hour - milling around this Fountain area in the last 24 hours, please let me hear from you. We know this spray had to be applied sometime between Monday 1PM and today when we found it at 4PM. We have filed a Police Report and will be pressing charges if the culprit(s) can be caught. Thank you for your vigilance and support…this will NOT deter our continued plans for beautification throughout Snell Isle!

Sincerely,
